THE TRANSDUCERS It all starts with the drivers, simply because they set the upper limit for the system’s performance. All Meadowlark speakers are based upon the beautiful, new, leading edge, Satori line designed by SB Acoustics of Denmark. All of our models feature what is, in our opinion, the finest tweeter ever made, the incomparable Satori Beryllium dome, which delivers the cleanest, most convincingly natural portrayal of the trebles we’ve experienced. Each of the Satori woofers and midranges reflects the latest thinking, targeting both the resolution and the dynamics needed to tackle HD Audio (read our technical pages). They employ every trick in the book for linearity and lack of compression, plus a few new ones like their elastically decoupled motor/chassis interface that quarantines vibration at the motor. Meadowlark designs exploit the combination of DSP and huge amounts of power for aggressive and deep bass response. This places demands on the woofers that must be met with large excursion capability and effective heat dissipation. The solution; Satori. Simply the best. The Satori beryllium tweeter itself, is internally elastically decoupled. Then our mount decouples it again from the cabinet. AMPLIFIERS AND DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSORS Hypex, Netherlands, is the industry leader in Class D amplifier technology; their NCore module is widely regarded as the ‘high bar’ for the latest in Class D amplifier technology. In our 30 years’ experience with way too many amplifiers, none has outperformed the NCore. It is, in a word, flawless. This advance represents a small revolution in audio since NCore is both tiny and not expensive, allowing us to use one per driver (or pair). Three-ways Kingfisher and Harrier have three amps. Nightingale, our five- driver four-way runs five amps, and Merlin, our seven driver five-way sports seven amps. To make service easy, we park and share each customer’s amp’s DSP files in the Google cloud for easy and continuous access. In the unlikely event we need to replace a customer’s amp, we load the correct files and send the new unit. To replace in the field, the task is quick and simple, requiring only a screwdriver for the mounting screws.
